The Annual Report sets out Geoscience Australia's performance over the financial year, against the following outcome which is identified in the annual budget process:

"to achieve enhanced potential for the Australian community to obtain economic, social and environmental benefits through the application of first class geoscientific research and information".

Appendices provide information relating to the use of consultants, occupational health and safety issues, Freedom of Information, advertising and market research, ecologically sustainable development, the Commonwealth Disability Strategy and the presentation of financial statements.
