1. New Gravity Survey Data added to the Australian National Gravity Database

New gravity data from surveys in Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia have recently (April 2007) been incorporated into the Australian National Gravity Database.

Data from the gravity survey in the Mt Isa Area C have been added into the Australian National Gravity Database. A total of 9,047 stations were acquired at a station spacing of 2.0 km x 2.0 km on the Duchess and Urandangi (eastern half) 1:250 000 sheet areas and at 4.0 km x 4.0 km spacing on the Urandangi (western half), Glenormiston and Mt Whelan 1:250 000 sheet areas. This survey was funded by the Geological Survey of Queensland under its Smart Exploration Initiative and project managed by Geoscience Australia.

The Murchison gravity survey covering parts of the Belele, Cue, Glengarry and Sandstone 1:250 000 sheet areas in Western Australia has now been completed. The release of final data for the 3,555 new stations is anticipated to be mid to late May 2007. The survey was funded by the Geological Survey of Western Australia and project managed by Geoscience Australia.

The Department of Primary Industries and Resources, South Australia has provided Geoscience Australia with company data that are now open file. Approximately 16,000 stations have now been added to the Australian National Gravity Database.

All data in the Australian National Gravity Database can be obtained free-of-charge using the Geophysical Archive Data Delivery System "GADDS".

2. CALL FOR SUBSCRIBERS - Geoscience Australia 2007 Airborne EM Survey Program - Pine Creek NT

Geoscience Australia is implementing a program of airborne geophysical mapping over the Pine Creek region of the Northern Territory under the Australian Government's Onshore Energy Security Initiative funding package.

The objective of the survey is to improve the understanding of the geology and mineral potential of the survey area.

The data will be publicly available on completion of the survey.

Mineral exploration companies with interests in these areas are invited to participate in the project by contributing towards the additional costs of surveying. Contributions can be towards extending the current survey area and/or in-fill flying of the current survey area in locations of particular exploration interest.

The extent of any additional coverage on adjoining sheets and the areas of in-fill flying will depend on client interest. Subscribers will be informed of the cost of their data requirements before any additional work is commenced.

Data acquired under company subscription will be subject to a moratorium to the subscribing companies prior to public release. The period of moratorium will be agreed between Geoscience Australia and the successful subscriber prior to the commencement of any additional work.

From the subscriptions received Geoscience Australia will select areas for in-fill/extension flying of the current survey area that complement the objective of the survey.

Expressions of interest should be submitted by Friday 25th May 2007 and should include a map of the desired infill/extension area and survey specifications.

3. Update on geophysical survey data acquisition

East Isa North Qld Airborne Magnetic & Radiometric 20% N/A east-west 113 000 line km 400 m 80 m Data acquisition commenced on 3 April 2007. The survey covers parts of Richmond, Hughenden, McKinlay, Manuka and Tangorin 1:250 000
East Isa South Qld Airborne Magnetic & Radiometric 54% N/A east-west 145 900 line km 400 m 80 m The survey covers parts of the McKinlay, Manuka, Mackunda, Winton, Brighton Downs and Maneroo 1:250 000 map sheets, with data acquisition expected to commence at the end of flying on the Isa South-East airborne survey.
Mount Isa Area C Qld Gravity 100% 68 000 km2 ~9 236 in total N/A C1 2.0 km grid C2 4.0 km grid N/A Data from this survey were released via GADDS on 11 April 2007.
Isa Area D Qld Gravity N/A 4 903; 75 460 km2 N/A 4.0 km grid N/A Data acquisition will commence on completion of Isa Area E. The survey covers the entire Bedourie, Machattie, Birdsville and Betoota 1:250 000 Map Sheets and parts of the Connemara 1:250 000 Map Sheet.
Isa Area E Qld Gravity 90% 6 233 N/A 4.0 km grid N/A Data acquisition commenced on 1 February 2007. The survey will cover the entire McKinlay, Mackunda, Brighton Downs, Richmond and Manuka 1:250 000 Map Sheets and parts of the Winton and Maneroo 1:250 000 Map Sheet

Canning Basin 2007 N/A Airborne magnetic & radiometric 7% Area 70 192 km2 line km 100 000 north-south 800 m 80 m Data acquisition commenced on 22 April 2007. The survey covers parts of the Anketell, Joanna Spring, Dummer, Paterson Range, Sahara, Tabletop and Ural 1:250 000 Map Sheets.

Geoscience Australia will be managing the data acquisition program in Queensland, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
