Data Access Policy

Geoscience Australia operates the Australian Regional GPS Network (ARGN) that consists of a group of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) reference stations which provide code range and carrier phase data to users in support of post-processing applications. This also includes the GNSS reference stations that make up the South Pacific Regional GPS Network (SPRGN) and the AuScope funded network.

The GNSS data collected at these sites are made available to the public in the Receiver Independent Exchange (RINEX) format version 2.11. This includes observations files in the hatanaka compressed format, ephemeris information and where applicable meteorlogical files. Most data is available within two hours from when they were recorded. All data is available to the public free of charge.

The data archive is available from 1992 until present.

Accessing the data

Data can be retrieved via the Geoscience Australia anonymous FTP server. For data that is not available on the public archive please contact geodesy@ga.gov.au.

File retention

Daily RINEX files sampled at 30 second epochs are available online permanently. Hourly RINEX files sampled at 30 second epochs are kept for 14 days before being deleted from the server. High rate RINEX files sampled at one second epochs are available online for one year. After this the files are stored on our internal archive and are available by request.

Station log files are updated as required.
