In this false colour swipe comparison, the extent of the urban areas of Armidale are highlighted in red and yellow. Over the course of the last 22 years, the city has expanded more to the north east in Ben Venue but also with the new residents in St Patricks to the south of the city centre. The New England Highway is a major road project that appears over the time skip, running along the western edge of the city. Differences in vegetation colour between old and new images are due to changes in vegetation moisture content from inter-annual differences in rainfall.
