The city of Cooma is located in the south of New South Wales on the Snowy Mountains Highway. These images were acquired from the Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper sensor. True and false colour images for both a recent (2010), and an older (1988) scene are available below in high resolution JPEG format.

In this false colour swipe comparison, urban areas appear as shades of cyan and purple, dry vegetation and soil as magenta to red, and forest or irrigated vegetation as shades of green. Water bodies appear dark blue to black. New residential properties appear in the southwest corner of Cooma, as well as rural residential development along Shannons Flat and in Binjura. There is also noticeable commercial and industrial construction to Polo Flat Industry Section.
