In this false colour swipe comparison, the extent of the urban areas of Goulburn are highlighted in purple. Vegetation appears as light green to yellow, with drier areas appearing lighter. Water is displayed as dark blue to black. The city’s main area of residential growth has been predominately on the northern side of the Wollondilly River. Also in north Goulburn, there has been the expansion of an industry and business district around Copford Park, and the new Goulburn Racecourse is constructed. The bypass of the Hume Highway in 1992 is another prominent change between images. This has resulted in new commercial and services buildings along with the relocation of the Big Merino to be beside the new section of highway.
