The city of Grafton is situated on the Clarence River in north-eastern New South Wales. These images were acquired from the Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper sensor. True and false colour images for both a recent (2009), and an older (1987) scene are available below in high resolution JPEG format.

In this false colour swipe comparison, urban areas appear as shades of purple and white. Vegetation appears as light green to yellow, with drier areas appearing lighter. Water is displayed as dark blue to black. Grafton’s main areas of growth have occurred to the north and south of the city in the satellite suburbs of Junction Hill, Koolkhan, and Clarenza. Residents have also been developed in South Grafton around Rushforth. Rural residential blocks have been established in multiple areas surrounding the city, particularly within Waterview Heights. Also notice the significant growth of Bom Bom State Forest south of Grafton.
