The city of Griffith is located in southwestern New South Wales, approximately 350km northwest of Canberra. These images were acquired from the Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper sensor. True and false colour images for both a recent (2011), and an older (1987) scene are available below in high resolution JPEG format.

In this false colour swipe comparison, urban areas appear as shades of purple and white. Vegetation appears as light green to yellow, with drier areas appearing lighter. Water is displayed as dark blue to black. Griffith has seen rapid growth over the last 24 years particularly in the northeast and southwest. Housing developments have occurred in Collina, Mayfair and Pioneer. Commercial and business infrastructure has been mainly concentrated in the southeast of the city. Rural residential properties have also been appearing in satellite suburbs such as Lake Wyangan. Also notice the new construction at Griffith Airport.
