In this true colour swipe comparison, colours appear as close as they would naturally to the human eye. Urban areas appear grey to white, trees and grasslands as shades of green and yellow, and water bodies as dark blue to black. Residential development occurs mostly in the suburbs of Mount Johns and Desert Springs to the east, and in Larapinta to the west of the town centre. The settlement of Ilparpa southwest of Heavitree Gap is also established between images. Heavitree Gap itself sees a large amount of infrastructure increase. Also notice the upgrade and paving of the Stuart Highway north of town.
