In these false colour images, the extent of the urban areas of Mount Isa are highlighted in green. Vegetation also appears in shades of green, with grassland very bright, and sparse shrubs very pale, such as along the tributaries of Lake Moondarra. Soils appear in a range of colours, from mauve to crimson. The open cut mines to the east of town appear dark blue, with the man-made water bodies appearing black. Within the city there has been increased infrastructure development mostly to in the north around Soldiers Hill, Ryan and Mount Isa Airport. To the west of the city, the satellite residential area of Breakaway has appeared, and more grassland and gardens has grown around Sunset Stadium. Also notice the greater water volume in Lake Moondarra in the 2010 image.
