The city of Port Lincoln is located on the southern end of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. These images were acquired from the Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper sensor. True and false colour images for both a recent (2011), and an older (1989) scene are available below in high resolution JPEG format.

In this false colour swipe comparison, the extent of the urban areas of Port Lincoln can be seen as cyan and white, with vegetation appearing in shades of red, and soils or sparse grassland as dark to light brown. Burnt areas will appear as shades of dark green to grey. Water bodies appear dark blue to black. Residential expansion of Port Lincoln occurs mainly to the west, with rural residential development in Boston and Tiatukia. There has been significant expansion to the industry district in the southwest, and construction of a larger cannal system to the harbour. Also notice the changing water levels in Little Swamp, and the regrowth of burnt vegetation to the swamp’s west.
