In this false colour swipe comparison, urban areas appear as shades of purple and white. Vegetation appears as light green to yellow, with drier areas appearing lighter. Snow appears white, and water bodies are displayed as dark blue to black. While the town itself has grown in size relatively slightly over the last two decades, there is a quite marked environmental change to the town’s east- the flooding of the valley to create Lake Burbury. You can see the construction of the Crotty Dam in the old image by the unsealed roads and tracks south of the town. The roads that were not submerged have since been sealed. Also observe the smaller reservoir that appears to the southwest of town, and the expansion of the open cut mining to the northwest.
