In this true colour swipe comparison, colours appear as close as they would naturally to the human eye. Urban areas appear grey to white, trees and grasslands as shades of green and yellow, and water bodies as dark blue to black. The main urban growth areas are in East Bairnsdale, Lucknow and Wy Yung. On the peninsula between Lake King and Lake Victoria, Paynesville has also seen marked growth most notably with the construction of its man-made canal system, and the housing developments within Newlands Arm. To the north of Lake King many rural residential properties have also appeared around Nicholson. Notice the difference in water particulates between images, with the 1987 image having a lot more shallow water particles within the Lakes, visible by the green colourisation of the water bodies.
