- 2009 Bendigo false colour
In this false colour swipe comparison, urban areas appear as shades of cyan and purple, dry vegetation and soil as magenta to red, and forest or irrigated vegetation as shades of green. Parklands and ovals within the city appear as bright green. Recent burnt vegetation appears bright red. Water bodies appear dark blue to black. Bendigo’s residential growth has been in many parts of the city, but particularly to the west in Maiden Gully and in the southeast around Kennington and Strathdale. Along the Midland Highway, there has also been new housing development in White Hills and Epsom. Industrial and commercial infrastructure has been mainly concentrated in East Bendigo. The newer image was also acquired less than 2 months after the 2009 Black Saturday fires. The burnt area can be seen by the strong red colour to the west of Long Gully.
