The city of Albany is located in southern Western Australia, situated on King George Sound. These images were acquired from the Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper sensor. True and false colour images for both a recent (2009), and an older (1989) scene are available below in high resolution JPEG format.

In this false colour swipe comparison, the extent of the urban areas of Albany appear as cyan to white. Healthy vegetation appears as shades of green, orange and red, with red areas showing younger or growing vegetation. Water bodies appear dark blue to black with blue showing shallow water or sand bars. Several residential suburbs have appeared or expanded during this time, include Orana and Bayonet Head. Business districts have grown largely in Lange and within Centennial Park. Also notice the construction and new infrastructure within Port Albany, on the edge of Princess Royal Harbour.
