The city of Geraldton is located on the Western Australia coast approximately 420km north of Perth. These images were acquired from the Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper sensor. True and false colour images for both a recent (2011), and an older (1988) scene are available below in high resolution JPEG format.

In this false colour swipe comparison, the extent of the urban areas of Geraldton are displayed in purple and white. The city has seen significant expansion of its residential suburbs, with new suburbs Waggrakine in the north, Strathalbyn in the northwest, and parts of Tarcoola and Wandina in the south. Furthermore they have been several outer limit suburbs in development, including the likes of Drummond Cove and Cape Burney. Semi rural housing has sprung up in Woorree and Deepdale. Notice the new Geraldton-Mt Magnet Road constructed linking the city centre to the inland townships. The mariner has also been expanded reclaiming land into the bay.
