Top GeoShot 2013 - Geoscience Australia's Photo Competition

 

Geoscience Australia's Top GeoShot photographic competition for 2013 is now open. The theme for this year’s competition is "Exposed to the Elements" with the closing date 23 September 2013.

Earth science is all around us. Many of us barely notice it influencing our daily lives. Top GeoShot is an annual competition taking place in the lead-up to Earth Science Week, 13-19 October 2013.

The entry form is interactive. Please ensure you have the latest version of Adobe PDF Reader External link icon, available to download for free.

How to enter

To participate, take and submit a photograph that captures the essence of Earth science. 

Hard copy submission 

Fill in the entry form and send with your photo to:

GPO Box 378, Canberra, ACT, 2601 

Online submission 

Fill in the entry form, attach both photo and form in an email and send to education@ga.gov.au

Please note: Multiple entries must be sent as multiple emails. 

Categories 

There are two categories for this year’s competition: 

  • Open Category
  • Student Category (up to Year 12)

A panel of Geoscience Australia staff will select the winning images. Winners receive a professionally framed enlargement of their image and their image will be displayed in Geoscience Australia’s foyer in Canberra for the year.

Top GeoShot 2012

The winners of the Top GeoShot 2012 photographic competition were announced on Wednesday 17 October 2012. Geoscience Australia received 191 entries from all over Australia. The photographs were judged on quality, creativity, aesthetics and fit with the "Earth Science" theme. The quality of work submitted was exceptional and the photograph display in the foyer has become quite a conversation piece for visitors to Geoscience Australia.

An Overall Winner, a "People's Choice" and 11 additional winners were selected, including one from the Student category. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who entered this year’s competition.
