Composition and Organisation of the National Flood Risk Advisory Group
The National Flood Risk Advisory Group (NFRAG) comprises representatives from Whole of Government, the insurance industry and research. NFRAG also works in collaboration with other groups such as the Australian Council of State Emergency Services (ACSES) and Engineers Australia on areas of mutual interest. Current representation on NFRAG includes:
- Attorney-General's Department
- Australian Building Codes Board
- Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council - State Emergency Services Community Safety Committee
- Australian Local Government Association
- Bureau of Meteorology
- Geoscience Australia
- Insurance Council of Australia (ICA)
- Representative from each State and Territory – either a floodplain manager, emergency manager or land use planner
- RMIT University (Centre for Risk and Community Safety) as a research representative
- Treasury (Commonwealth)
NFRAG meets two times a year and out-of-session where the need arises. The role of Chair is currently held by the Tasmanian State Emergency Service representative.
