Work Program - National Flood Risk Advisory Group
The currently agreed work program includes:
1. Finalise the update of the national best practice guide to flood risk management and develop a series of supporting technical guidelines. These will include, but not be limited to, guidelines on consistent modelling and mapping outputs, and hazard characterisation. Funding for this work has been provided through the National Emergency Management Program managed by the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department.
2. Work with Geoscience Australia on the update of the Australian Flood Studies Database and the development of the Australian Flood Information System. This work is being progressed under the National Flood Risk Information Project, an initiative of the Australian Government.
3. Prepare a paper for consideration by the Australian-New Zealand Emergency Management Committee (ANZEMC) on the requirements for stream gauge observations for the provision of a national flood warning service.
4. Prepare a paper for consideration by the ANZEMC on the issues related to the maintenance of levees.
