Mark Pittard
I joined the Geoscience Australia Graduate Program after previously taking part in Geoscience Australia’s Cadet Program while completing a Bachelor of Global and Ocean Science at the Australian National University (ANU). My undergraduate studies included an exchange year to the University of Oslo, Norway, where I was able to gain a European perspective on the geosciences as well as study glaciology.
I completed my Honours in 2010 studying the physics of the Earth within the Research School of Earth Science at the ANU. My Honours project investigated the melting processes that occur along ice shelves. My experience is a perfect fit with my first rotation working with the Antarctic Geoscience Project investigating Antarctic crustal heat production.
