This project acquires, processes and interprets pre-competitive geoscience information associated with mineral resources in selected provinces and basins across Australia to identify prospectivity and promote new data and results to industry, in partnership with State and Northern Territory Geological Surveys. The project also utilises datasets collected as part of the Onshore Energy Security Program. Processed data and images of seismic surveys and images for magnetotelluric (MT) surveys can be found on the Seismic Acquisition and Processing Project page. The aim of this project is an increased investment in exploration for onshore mineral resources in selected provinces and basins across Australia, to improve discovery rates for these resources.

Each year the project will focus in a different area:

  • Mount Isa-Georgetown-Charters Towers, Queensland in 2008-09
  • Gawler-Curnamona, South Australia in 2009-10
  • Amadeus-Arunta-Georgina, Northern Territory in 2010-11
  • Capricorn region, Western Australia in 2011-12
  • Yilgarn-Officer-Musgraves, Western Australia in 2012-13.
