Cooperative Research Centres

The Onshore Energy and Minerals Division of Geoscience Australia is an active member in a number of cooperative research centres (CRCs) throughout Australia.

CRC for Landscape, Environment and Mineral Exploration (CRCLEME)

CRCLEME's role is to apply regolith science to the challenges facing Australia in mineral exploration and natural resource management. Regolith is the surficial mantle of weathered rock, sediments, soils and biotic complexes which are formed by the natural processes of weathering, erosion and transportation.

Predictive Mineral Discovery CRC (pmd*CRC)

The predictive mineral discovery CRC (pmd*CRC) was established to generate a fundamental shift in exploration practice and cost-effectiveness by developing a vastly improved comprehension of mineralising processes and a four dimensional understanding of the evolution of the geology of mineralised terranes.

The pmd*CRC was conceived by industry in partnership with the geological research community to focus research on issues of critical importance to ore discovery.
