GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 1

This dataset is no longer available - it has been superseded by Series 2. It comprised data captured from the 1:250 000 scale National Topographic Map Series. The following themes were available for Series 1:

• Hydrography: drainage networks including rivers, lakes and wetlands
• Infrastructure: layers containing road and rail networks, built up areas, aircraft facilities and localities
• Relief: spot heights.

Not all features shown on the printed map were included in the product. The main features that were omitted are:

• Cartographic Names: names of features and places are included as feature attributes only, and no information is given about the cartographic position of names;
• Vegetation and 50-metre Contours:
• Buildings: only buildings important enough to be shown on 1:1 million scale maps (usually homesteads) are included.

Currency: Pre-June 1994. Some features, eg. changes to major roads, railways, boundaries of major cities and new populated places, have been revised between June 1994 and May 2000.

Coordinates: Geographical and AMG (not available for MapInfo)
